Rigid Pavement Toll Road Section

Challenge

The section crossed rice fields with variable subgrade and had to connect to an existing national road that stayed open to traffic.

Approach

• Rigid pavement for heavy-vehicle traffic, with surface and subsurface drainage designed from the start.
• Regular drone surveys to track progress and calculate cut-and-fill volumes.
• Phased traffic management at the interchanges, rehearsed in a 4D model.

Outcome

Site progress could be compared directly with the plan every week, and disruption to the existing road was kept to a minimum.
